Danielle Lennon Music. Life. Passion.

aboutme

Music has always been a part of me. I was always singing as a kid and making up harmonies to songs I heard on the radio. I was lucky enough to live in Hamilton, Ontario where I had my choice of musical activities. In middle school I tried the trumpet and the saxophone and outside of school I sang with The Hamilton Children's Choir and took piano lessons. In 1992 I toured Nova Scotia with the choir and returned home to tell my parents that I wanted to try the violin. I studied classical violin with Ilona Spleit and was a member of her string orchestras as well as The Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for seven years. I went on to study music at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

My Bachelor of Music degree was almost entirely focused on classical music, which was wonderful, but I wanted to try other things apart from the odd Jazz or Pop class. I decided to get involved in Queen's Musical Theatre. I played in the pit orchestra as Concert Master for three years and conducted for one and spent a term as the bandleader and violinist for Queen's Players. Theatre has always been a fun side gig for me (although I'd be the first to admit that I can't act).

Since my graduation in 2003 I have been working at the Kingston School of Music teaching violin privately. I am also working to develop a string program at the Mulberry School. When I'm not teaching I am performing with the Kingston Symphony or one of my bands. I spend the summer months in Caledonia, Ontario where I play violin at Grand River Dinner CruisesThe Blazing Fiddles. with
